Codemasters is working on Dirt 3
British publisher Codemasters has confirmed Dirt 3 is in development. The game is being developed by the Codemasters studio in Birmingham, which is also working on the Formula 1 game F1 2010.
While Codemasters hasn’t disclosed much about the game yet, the publisher has told Edge confirmed that the rally game is in development. Codemasters vice president, Gavin Cheshire, dropped the name of the game in an interview for the Edge when talking about Codemasters’ development studios. “It’s about giving studios the opportunity to innovate. Very nice things are being made in Birmingham right now, which will be incorporated into Dirt 3 and Bodycount,” said Ceshire.
In the interview, Cheshire points out that Dirt 2 had a very American character, and alludes to some more British influences for Dirt 3. Furthermore, Dirt 3 will probably contain quite a few innovations compared to Dirt 2, which in turn is a very different game. was then Colin McRae: Dirt. Cheshire has a simple explanation for this: “If you don’t innovate, you die,” said the Vice President of Codemasters.
