Code Android 13 gives away information about upcoming Pixel phones

Information has come out about the next generation of Google Pixel phones. They have a second-generation Google Tensor soc with a new modem from manufacturer Samsung, according to the information.

The new Tensor soc would have GS201 as a type number, compared to GS101 of the Tensor from the Pixel 6 phones, 9to5Google reports. It seems that Google is once again partnering with Samsung as the manufacturer and developer of the soc; in any case, the modem comes from Samsung and would be the as yet unannounced Exynos Modem 5300. It is not known what changes there are compared to Exynos Modem 5123 from the Pixel 6.

There are three device code names associated with the Exynos Modem 5300. The first two are Cheetah and Panther. In addition, it seems that Google is using felines as designations for the devices for this year. The Cheetah and Panther would therefore be the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. For years, Google used sea creatures for this.

The third is ‘ravenclaw’ and according to 9to5Google that may be a prototype of the Pixel 6 with new Tensor soc, which would not be released. So there is no code name for the foldable Pixel phone that Google would be making.

The references are in the first developer version of Android 13 that came out almost two weeks ago. Google usually releases its new generations of Pixel phones in the fall. That happened with the Pixel 6 in late October last year.
