CoD: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops Survival Mode Is PS4 Exclusive For Years
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s Spec Ops Survival mode will only be playable on PlayStation 4 for the first year after release. It won’t be available for Xbox One and PC until October 1, 2020. The other parts of Spec Ops are available on all platforms.
Sony has negotiated exclusivity for the Spec Ops Survival mode for a year, according to a new trailer. It states that the Survival Mode can be played first on the PlayStation 4. In fine print at the bottom of the screen it says that the mode is exclusive to PlayStation consoles until October 1, 2020.
Survival mode is part of Spec Ops, the co-op portion of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. In survival mode, players must fight off hordes of computer-controlled opponents. The other game modes of the co-op part Spec Ops are not bound by exclusivity and will be available immediately on all platforms.
Previous Call of Duty games also gave PlayStation users earlier access to some content, but until now that was for much shorter periods, say a week. In addition, Activision announced in August that the DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be released simultaneously on all platforms. It is also the first game in the series to have cross-platform play between PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare comes out on October 25.
