Clubhouse lets makers of Rooms pin links at the top of the screen
Audio chat app Clubhouse lets makers of Rooms pin links at the top of the screen. For example, they can refer users to what they are talking about or promote their own merchandise or videos, for example, the company says.
Any room moderator can add a pinned link by selecting the option from the three-dot menu at the top of the screen and entering a link, says Clubhouse. The company suspects that moderators will use the links for polls, links to YouTube videos and playing games.
The company also thinks that creators will use the links to showcase their products, such as their Substack where users can subscribe, merchandise, podcast, Patreon page or page at GoFundMe. The pinned links should also become a way to promote business, according to the description.
Makers at Clubhouse would like to see more ways to make money, The Verge wrote last month. The new platform has relatively few ways to do that. Clubhouse has been around for about a year and a half and suddenly became popular at the beginning of this year. The app lets users create chat rooms, Rooms, in which the hosts can talk to each other.
Other users can also enter these rooms if allowed, but can only listen to the conversation. Meanwhile, the app has competition from various companies, who have incorporated the functionality of Clubhouse into their respective platforms. Earlier this year, Twitter introduced Spaces, Facebook and Discord introduced Clubhouse-like features, and Spotify introduced its Greenhouse audio chat app.
