Cloudflare makes VPN service Warp available for Linux
Cloudflare makes its VPN service Warp available for Linux. There was already a client for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS. An option has also been added to use Warp as a local proxy, so that one application can be placed behind the VPN.
The Warp client for Linux is available for download and Cloudflare provides instructions on how to install and use it in a blog. There is no user interface for the Linux version yet, so that is done via the command line. In 2019, Cloudflare released its vpn service for other operating systems. Warp is free, but there is also a paid variant that offers faster speeds.
In the latest release of the Warp client, Cloudflare has also added the ability to exclude certain routes from the vpn. In addition, it has become possible to use all Warp desktop clients in a local proxy mode. This allows users to put a specific application behind the VPN, while the rest of the data traffic is left untouched. The local proxy option is hidden in the advanced options menu. Cloudflare provides instructions on how to activate and set up this functionality on its blog.
