Cleaning up photos and videos in WhatsApp is now much easier
Are you an enthusiastic WhatsApp user? Are you in various chat groups? Then the funny photos and videos will undoubtedly fly around your ears. Before you know it, they are taking up a lot of the storage space on your iPhone. Now WhatsApp has made it much easier to delete files you don’t even care about in one go.
Manage WhatsApp storage
Until now, removing redundant data has been a hassle: you did that per conversation. But with the latest update, WhatsApp has made it easier. Have a look here:
- In WhatsApp, open Settings.
- Tap Storage & data.
- Tap Manage storage.
WhatsApp shows you the most annoying files here. That is, photos and videos that are larger than 5MB and therefore take up a lot of space. And photos and videos that have been forwarded multiple times – often in the genre “particularly bland”. From here you can easily delete the files in bulk:
- Tap “Greater than 5MB” or “Often forwarded”.
- At the top right, tap “Select”.
- Tap the media you want to delete or “Select all” at the bottom.
- Delete them by tapping the trash can.
- Confirm that you want to delete the items.
Clean up conversations
With the above actions you have already cleaned up a lot, but not everything. On the “Manage storage” screen you also see an overview of your conversations, sorted by the amount of storage they consume. Tap a conversation to see all media in a conversation and select items to delete.
