Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is coming to Nintendo Switch on November 16, 2018. The strategy game has already been released for Windows, Mac, iOS and Linux. The Switch is the first console to feature Civilization VI.

The Switch version will have the latest updates and features. It will also receive all the DLC prior to Civilization VI: Rise and Fall, the first major expansion. The Civilization & Scenario packs for Nubia, Indonesia and the Khmer are not included.

A co-op and multiplayer function over a wireless network will also be present. Different consoles are required for both options. Whether there will be a Hot-Seat option, where several players can play multiplayer or co-op on a single console, by switching after each turn, is not yet clear. It is also not yet known which interface or control changes the studio has made for this version.

Civilization VI is a turn-based 4X strategy game. The 4X stands for the actions you perform: Explore, Expand, Exploit and Exterminate. The Civilization series implements the 4X principle in the gameplay since the fourth game in the series.

Sid Meier was the mastermind behind the first game in 1991 and has since provided creative advice for the games after that. Firaxis develops the games and 2K Games is the publisher. Civilization VI was first released on October 16, 2016 and the expansion, Civilization VI: Rise and Fall, was released in February 2018.
