Citrix Acquires VMLogix
Citrix acquires VMLogix. California-based VMLogix makes management tools for powering virtualized server environments. With the acquisition, Citrix hopes to improve its cloud management software.
How much Citrix paid for VMLogix has not been disclosed. The takeover should be completed this quarter. The VMLogix software makes it possible for companies, among other things, to build, manage and migrate their own cloud environments via its LabManager management software.
Citrix will integrate VMLogix’s technology into its XenServer, some free software that companies can use to set up their own cloud systems. In addition, Citrix plans to add new capabilities to OpenCloud, an open source management console that can leverage both closed and open cloud environments. The updated Citrix OpenCloud platform should be released later this year.
