Paradox Interactive warns that Cities: Skylines II failed to meet hardware targets on PC, which may result in poor performance. Still, Paradox will release the strategy game on October 24. This would be better for the project in the long run.

The publisher writes in a blog post: “Cities: Skylines II is a next-gen game that requires certain hardware. Despite the efforts of our team, we were not able to achieve the hardware requirements we had in mind.” The company refers to the increase in the minimum and recommended system requirements a few weeks ago. According to the company, the original system requirements were determined during the development of the game and after further testing, those requirements turned out to not be high enough.

In an accompanying faq Paradox acknowledges that Cities: Skylines II may have performance issues depending on the user’s PC hardware. Soon, the company plans to make configuration recommendations so that PC gamers can optimize the city-building game’s performance. In the months following release, Paradox promises improvements to the game.

To play Cities: Skylines II, at least a Core i7-6700K or a Ryzen 5-2600X CPU is required, according to publisher Paradox and developer Colossal Order. The game also requires at least a GTX 970 or an AMD equivalent and 8GB of RAM. A few weeks ago, the console version of the game was postponed and at the same time the minimum and recommended system requirements were increased.

Update, 3:50 p.m: The order of the article has been tightened to better reflect Paradox’s statement. A reference and link to the FAQ has also been added, including an image with the relevant quotes.
