ChromeOS gets Android kernel and frameworks
Google will provide ChromeOS with Android's Linux kernel and frameworks from its mobile operating system. This should make it easier to build new functions and make phones and laptops work better together.
This starts with the inclusion of the Bluetooth stack from ChromeOS 122, says Google. The step should also make development for ChromeOS easier and also make 'AI functions' easier.
Google is starting work now, but says they won't be available to customers and users for some time. The company promises a “seamless transition” from the current kernel and frameworks to those based on Android. It is not yet known exactly when that will happen.
