Chrome will soon be able to automatically block notifications from websites
Chrome will soon have the option to block notifications from websites that want to show notifications. The browser will determine via machine learning whether notifications from certain websites are desired or not. According to Google, the processing of the data takes place on the device itself.
Google suggests that in the future Chrome will track how a user has responded to similar notifications from websites that want to show browser notifications in the past. The company does not state any criteria for the analysis or version number of the Chrome browser, but emphasizes that the analysis and estimation will be made entirely on-device.
The company will also deploy machine learning to automatically turn Chrome’s toolbar buttons into feature buttons an individual user uses most at any given time. Google gives the use of voice typing as an example and states that the icon for it can automatically appear in the toolbar of Chrome to replace the standard buttons. The bar can also still be adjusted manually and the analysis will also be done only on the device.
