Chrome OS gets support for inline-reply to Android notifications
Chrome OS users will be able to reply to notifications from Android apps directly through the notification window. The operating system development team has activated that option in the Chrome OS beta channel.
The functionality seems to work in the same way as with Android. Incoming notifications have a reply option and users can answer directly in the input field below the notification, without having to go to the relevant app first.
Google’s ‘Chromium Evangelist’ François Beaufort reports the feature’s addition to the Chrome OS beta channel. Android has had the inline-reply feature for notifications since Android 7.0 Nougat.
Google is in the process of integrating more and more Android features into Chrome OS. At the beginning of this month, XDA Developers discovered that the operating system will also show notifications on the lock screen and it became clear earlier that app icons will have notification indicators.
