Chrome for Android gets page preview feature

The Chrome browser on Android is getting a new feature that allows a page to be previewed before opening the page in a new tab. The preview feature has been available for version 89 of Chrome for Android since Wednesday.

The preview feature appeared two years ago, but Google needed more time to get it working properly before a release. The feature was rolled out Wednesday evening to all users of the latest version of Chrome for Android.

When a user is using Chrome on Android, the page can be previewed by long pressing a link. The usual menu to open or copy the link will then appear. Between ‘open in incognito tab’ and ‘copy link address’ there is now ‘view page’, which gives you a preview of the page.

The function ensures that a new tab is not immediately opened or that you leave the current page. In the preview you can choose to open or close the page in a tab.
