Chinese customs seize thousands of wrongly labeled XFX video cards

Chinese customs have seized 5840 mislabeled video cards. The cards are said to have a value of 2.87 million euros. Customs also publishes a video in which video cards from XFX can be seen. It is not known whether that manufacturer is directly involved in this.

Chinese customs write on Weibo that the video cards were found during an inspection at the port of Huanggang in Shenzhen, near the Hong Kong-China border. Three video cards were found there whose labels were covered with other labels.

A thorough inspection revealed that 5840 graphics cards had labels bearing incorrect specifications that did not match those of the actual models, presumably to reduce import taxes. The total value of the cards is more than 20 million yuan, according to the authorities, which amounts to 2.87 million euros. Customs shares a video of the seized inventory, showing several XFX video cards. It appears to be Radeon RX 6700 XT graphics cards.

Authorities do not report whether XFX itself was directly involved in mislabeling the video cards. XFX has also not yet commented on the incident. The website of the Chinese XFX division and its online store on T-mall were offline for several days after the report, the Chinese news medium MyDrivers noted. However, they are now available again. MyDrivers claims that XFX China has previously been accused of supplying its video cards primarily to crypto miners. There have been rumors about that as well.
