A Chinese company claims to have made an entire apartment complex with parts that come from a 3D printer. The complex has six floors, covers 1100 square meters and is located in Suzhou, near Shanghai.

The company Winsun printed the building using a 3D printer measuring 40x10x6 meters, reports 3dPrint. The parts for the building, such as parts of walls, doors and windows, come from that 3d printer. The workers then assembled it.

It is the first time that a company has made an apartment complex using a 3D printer. The printer was not on the construction site. For the 3d printer, Winsun used a mix of building materials, including used concrete, sand and a material to make the whole thing harder.

According to the construction company, 3D printing offers many advantages. For example, it would save time, less labor would be needed and less new material would be needed for building using a 3D printer compared to regular building processes. The company previously built a house using 3D printing.
