Chinese approval authority publishes photos and details Honor 8

The Chinese testing agency Tenaa has posted photos and details online of what is likely to be the Honor 8. The subsidiary of Huawei comes with a smartphone with 5.2 “LCD and dual camera on the back.

The Leica brand name cannot be found on the back as with the Huawei P9, making it obvious that it is a ‘regular’ dual camera. Huawei also placed a dual camera on last year’s Honor 6 Plus. The cameras also seem to be assisted by a laser autofocus: an opening for this can be seen in the photos.

The photos have been released via Tenaa, the Chinese inspection body that tests devices before they are allowed on the market in that country. The specs show that the processor has a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz. That is the same clock speed as the Kirin 950 in the Mate 8. In addition, Honor phones often have a soc of its own brand HiSilicon, just like Huawei devices.

Huawei will probably present the Honor 8 next week. Until now, many Honor phones came out in China first, after which the Chinese company released smartphones in the Honor line in the Benelux some time later. That happened with the Honor 7, 6 Plus and 6.
