Cherry makes MX switches for DIY keyboards available
Cherry makes a box containing 110 MX switches available for people who want to assemble a mechanical keyboard themselves. The MX Developer Kit is available in two different versions.
An MX Developer Kit bundle contains 110 MX Silent Black switches, which are quieter than other MX variants. The other box contains MX Speed Silver switches, with a 1.2mm actuation distance for fast operation. Cherry mentions the German Reichelt as supplier of the Developer Kits.
The suggested retail price is 40 euros. Reichelt also supplies individual Cherry MX switches, for 60 cents. The 110 switches of the bundle thus come to 66 euros, which makes the Developer Kit more favorable. Cherry helps DIYers who want to design their own keyboard with extensive explanations about, among other things, the numbering of different switch models and templates for the placement of the parts on housings with and without mounting pins.
