‘Cheaper Vega GPUs without bundled games are no longer available’

The RX Vega 56 and 64 from AMD may no longer be available without bundled games. That means that the suggested retail prices of $399 and $499 for the Vega 56 and 64, respectively, no longer apply. The tickets are then only available for 100 dollars more.

That reports an employee of Overclockers UK. According to him, AMD has said that the $499 price for the RX Vega 64 graphics card will disappear in the near future, likely due to a very limited run of the single Vega graphics cards without bundling with two games. This presumably means that the RX Vega 64 will only be available in combination with the game Prey and the upcoming Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. This bundle is $100 more expensive than the separate video card.

The price for the RX Vega 64 is then, converted with VAT, probably about 650 euros. This corresponds to the current prices in Germany. The German price comparison site Geizhals shows that the card is offered for prices of 639 euros or higher. However, the cards offered in Germany do not appear to be bundles; there is no mention of the presence of games.

According to several websites, such as Overclock3d, the first batch of Vega GPUs sold out within minutes, so that the Vega 56 and 64 may only be available with the two bundled games. The cheaper RX Vega 56 video card received an introductory price of $399. This cheaper Vega video card will probably only be available for the higher price with the bundled games.

The Radeon RX Vega cards are virtually unavailable in the Benelux. There are no prices listed in the Pricewatch yet. It is possible that the separate cheaper Vega 56 and 64 will still be delivered in the Benelux without the combination bundle with the two games, but the question is what these will cost. For the time being, the prices seem to be higher than the recommended retail prices quoted by AMD.

If AMD’s latest video cards are actually only available with the bundled games, then the Vega 64 and Vega 56 are more expensive than the GeForce GTX 1080 and 1070, which are in the Pricewatch from around 550 and 420 euros. AMD’s new cards perform roughly comparable to Nvidia’s counterparts, but are less economical.
