Cheaper OnePlus 9R is only available in India for now
OnePlus comes with a relatively cheap third smartphone in the OnePlus 9 series that is intended for the Indian market. It concerns the OnePlus 9R and the device seems to only be released in India.
In an interview with the Indian site News18, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau announced that a 9R will also be released in addition to the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro. It is currently only available in India. With this phone, the manufacturer wants to respond to the ‘diverse smartphone needs’ in the country.
Lau says to go a bit further with the OnePlus 9R than the company already did with the OnePlus Nord, in the sense of offering a device with high-quality specifications. He seems to suggest that the OnePlus 9R will receive 5G support, but gave few concrete details.
According to OnePlus, the 9R will be a “premium-tier device” with a lower price, with the ability to scroll smoothly and play mobile games specifically. The phone will probably get a relatively good soc. Earlier there was a rumor that a cheaper third OnePlus 9 model will be released and that this device will receive the Snapdragon 865-soc.
On March 23, the manufacturer will release its OnePlus 9 smartphones. On that day, the company will also hold an event where at least the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro will probably be presented. Whether that also applies to the 9R is not clear. Furthermore, the manufacturer will introduce its first smartwatch on that day. A week ago, official renders of the 9 and 9 Pro appeared.
