Charges against Nintendo over Joy-Con issues now include new Switch Lite
The collective lawsuit filed against Nintendo over issues with the Joy-Con controllers will also involve the Switch Lite. The new console is said to have been added to the charge after gamers reported similar handling issues.
In July, a US law firm filed a class action lawsuit against Nintendo. In it, the company is accused of being aware of a defect in the Switch console’s Joy-Con controllers, but subsequently failed to take action to fix or even acknowledge the issues. Barely a week after the introduction of the smaller Nintendo Switch Lite, several gamers are reporting similar problems with the operation of the new console: analog sticks that continue to register input even if the player does not touch them, a phenomenon called drifting.
A video of a Switch Lite with drifting controllers has already appeared on Reddit. After more and more gamers sounded the alarm about the defect, the American lawyer neighbors decided to also include the new console in the complaint against Nintendo, Gizmodo reports. It is not yet known whether it will actually come to a lawsuit and how high the damage amount will be.
Nintendo has since instructed its customer service team not to charge any costs if customers want to have a defective Joy-Con of a Switch repaired. It is not yet known what the company will do if customers come knocking with a defective Switch Lite. The controllers of this console are not detachable, which means that gamers have to give up their entire device for the period of a possible repair.
