Changing button settings will soon also be possible with the standard Xbox One controller

Adjusting the controller settings on the Xbox One will soon be possible not only with the Xbox One Elite controller from Microsoft, but also with the regular Xbox One controller. It is unknown when the functionality will be introduced on the console.

Mike Ybarra, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, announced the news about button remapping on Twitter to a beta tester. He wonders why gamers with a PlayStation 4 can adjust their button settings on every controller and Xbox One players have to pay extra money for the Elite controller before they get the same functionality.

@StavEllis @XboxP3 It’s coming for all controllers soon.

It is unknown when the functionality will be implemented. Ybarra only speaks of ‘soon’. The Xbox One Elite controller should have the feature when it’s released, and it’ll be out in the US on October 27. The feature may be rolled out to standard controllers at the same time. When the Elite controller will appear in Europe is not yet certain.
