Game developer CD Projekt RED has released a new single player game based on the Gwent card game from The Witcher 3. The game is called Gwent: Rogue Mage and is available for Android, iOS and PC starting at 10 euros.

In Gwent: Rogue Mage take on the role of Alzur, a magician who wants to create the very first witcher with his companion Lily. That witcher must be able to stop the increasing number of monsters. The single player expansion is a prequel to the previous Witcher games.

According to game director Vladimir Tortsov, more and more fans of The Witcher franchise want a player-versus-environment game instead of a player-versus-player multiplayer game. The game is according to the editors of IGN more accessible to inexperienced players because each deck of in-game cards contains only twelve pieces and one is centered around a theme. More cards are added to the deck as the map is explored. New cards are introduced step by step. According to Tortsov, the game can be completed in about 30 hours. The basic version should cost 10 euros, while the Deluxe version costs a total of 20 euros. In the latter version you can choose between three different graphic versions of the main character Alzur.
