CD Projekt Red Postpones Next-Gen Upgrade The Witcher 3 Again
The release of the next-gen upgrade of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has been postponed to an unknown date. The upgrade was first supposed to come out last year, but was then postponed to the second quarter of 2022. Now the release date has been pushed back for the second time.
The official Twitter account of the Witcher game series reports that CD Projekt Red’s in-house development team continues to work on the upgrade, but that it won’t be able to release it this quarter. “We are currently evaluating how much work remains to be done, so we have to postpone the release of the upgrade until further notice.”
Both The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077’s next-gen upgrades were set to release last year. Later CD Projekt Red came back and moved the release to this year. Cyberpunk 2077’s next-gen upgrade has already been released in February.
The upgrade for The Witcher 3 should add the visual upgrades and ray tracing to the game so that it looks nicer on the current console generation. The Witcher 3 originally came out in 2015 on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Since then, it has also appeared for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series consoles.
