CD Projekt RED Delays Patch 1.2 for Cyberpunk 2077 to March
Developer CD Projekt RED postpones Cyberpunk 2077 patch 1.2 until the second half of March. This update was initially expected in February. According to the studio, the delay is necessary due to the magnitude of the update and the recent cyberattack on the company.
CD Project RED late know on Twitter that the company needs extra time to ‘properly release’ the update. “Our goal for Patch 1.2 extends beyond all of our previous updates. We are working on many general quality improvements and fixes, and we still have work to do to make this a reality,” the company said. The company says it is aiming for a release in the second half of March. The company will share more information at a later date.
The delay also follows a recent cyberattack on the Polish studio, which allowed attackers to gain access to CD Projekt RED’s internal networks, infect the company’s servers with ransomware, and get their hands on the source codes of games like Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3. These would have been traded by now. CD Projekt RED reports that this attack also had a hand in delaying the upcoming update.
The arrival of patch 1.2 was previously announced, and is part of an extensive roadmap for Cyberpunk 2077. The studio already released patch 1.1 in January, which mainly consisted of bug fixes and stability improvements. Patch 1.2 would follow “in the weeks after.” According to the studio, the update is larger than previous patches and brings more significant improvements.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released on December 10 and was criticized upon release for bugs and performance issues in the game. All versions of the game suffer from such bugs, but the original PS4 and Xbox One had the most problems. CD Projekt RED has been sued by investors in recent months for alleged deception about the technical condition of Cyberpunk 2077. The Polish market watchdog is also investigating the situation.
