CD Projekt is working on mobile ar game The Witcher: Monster Slayer

CD Projekt has announced The Witcher: Monster Slayer, a free augmented reality RPG set for the main games in The Witcher series. In the game, players have to defeat monsters and follow quests. A release date for the iOS and Android game is coming later this year.

The rpg uses according to CD Projekt ar to ‘transform the real world into the dark fantasy world’ of The Witcher. The real-life weather conditions and time, according to the publisher, gamers can use these conditions to their advantage. Monsters run free in large numbers in the game world, in Monster Slayer players have to elite monster hunters and beat these monsters.

In addition to battling the monsters, in The Witcher: Monster Slayer, players must also search and study them. These are both new and known monsters in the The Witcher universe. A gameplay trailer shows how players can block and fight with their swords. Players also need to develop potions, oils, bombs and bait in order to use them in the game. Monster Slayer finally allows users to upgrade their character and has shopkeepers and ‘story driven’ quests.

The game is not being developed by CD Projekt Red, who made the games in The Witcher main series, but by Spokko. This developer has been part of publisher CD Projekt for two years. Monster Slayer is Spokko’s first game and should be released ‘soon’ for Android and iOS devices.
