Gene Dynarski, the actor who played the role of Stalin in the original Command & Conquer: Red Alert, has died. Recently, it was also revealed that the actor Dimitri Diatchenko has passed away. He played the role of Oleg Vodnik, a Soviet commander from Red Alert 3.

Author Ernest Kearney reports that Dynarski passed away in late February at the age of 86. He was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1933 to two Polish parents. Dynarski not only played the role of Stalin in the original Command & Conquer: Red Alert, but also starred in the comedy series Seinfeld and Star Trek: The Original Series.

He also starred in Close Encounters of the Third Kind, in which Dynarski took on the role of a supervisor and instructs Richard Dreyfuss to investigate the mysterious blackouts. According to Kearney, he had a “gift” to argue with the wrong people, such as Steven Spielberg, the director of the latter film. That meant Spielberg decided to cut Dynarski from all new versions of the film after the release of the 1977 original.

The actor Dimitri Diatchenko also recently passed away. CNN reports that police found his lifeless body at his home in Daytona Beach, Florida. Police say there are no indications of a crime. Diatchenko is said to have suffered a case of electrification while working on April 13 and then took time off to recover. The actor played in the film Chernobyl Diaries, but will also be known for his role as Oleg Vodnik in Red Alert 3. He was also present as a voice actor in Fallout 4, Call of Duty and The Last of Us.
