Cats Who Play is working on RTS game Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance
Russian developer Cats Who Play is creating a real-time strategy game set in the Terminator: Dark Fate universe. This concerns the fictional world from the film of the same name that appeared in 2019. The game should be released for PCs sometime in 2022.
The game was announced with a cinematic teaser trailer and a short video showing footage from the game. The accompanying Steam page contains screenshots and a more detailed description of the game. The strategy game is about the battle between humanity and Legion. The latter is an intelligent network of cyborgs. In the movie Terminator: Dark Fate, that’s basically the Skynet counterpart from the classic Terminator movies.
The game will feature a single-player campaign in which players will take on the role of a Commander of the Founders faction to take on an army against Legion’s plans to wipe out humanity. The game will also get skirmish and multiplayer modes, in which players can choose from three factions: Founders, Legion and Resistance. The multiplayer can be played 1vs1, 2vs1 or 2vs2.

The makers promise ‘large strategic playing fields’ with great combat and tactical gameplay. Weapons and armor wear out with consumption and players have to take that into account. Buildings on the playing field can also be destroyed, which can have ‘tactical consequences’ in urban areas, according to the developers.
Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is made by Cats Who Play. That is a studio from Russia that also has the RTS game Syrian Warfare to its name. That game appeared on Steam in 2017 and according to the makers is a realistic representation of the war in Syria. A release date for the Terminator-rts game has not yet been announced, but according to the Steam page, the game will be out soon.
