Catching Meltan in Pokémon Go Requires Integration with Let’s Go Games
The Pokémon Company has released more information about the new Pokémon Meltan and how to catch it. This requires players to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Go to Pokémon Let’s Go: Pikachu and Let’s Go: Eevee for Nintendo Switch.
In a message, The Pokémon Company reveals that players need a mystery box to catch a Meltan. The box appears to act as a lure, attracting more Pokémon to the player’s location for half an hour. The Meltan that appear can only be seen by the player who opened the box.
Only one box can be used at a time and it closes after half an hour. To get it open again, players must send another Pokémon to a Switch with Let’s Go: Pikachu or Let’s Go: Eevee on it. It doesn’t have to be their own console or game, by the way. Meltan remain exclusive to Pokémon Go, meaning they cannot be caught in the Let’s Go games.
The new Pokémon has been appearing in Pokémon Go since mid-September. When players catch him, he actually turns out to be a Ditto, who has changed shape. The teaser that came out on October 10 hints that Meltan is also getting an evolution. What exactly is needed to evolve it is not yet known. It was recently announced that Pokémon from the Sinnoh region will be added. A release date of the update will follow.
