Cat S52 smartphone is drop-resistant up to 1.5 meters and costs 499 euros
Bullitt Group has announced the Cat S52 under the Caterpillar license. According to the manufacturer, the new device is its thinnest rugged Android smartphone to date. According to specifications, the Cat S52 survives a 1.5 meter drop onto concrete.
The Cat S52 weighs 210 grams, measures 158.1 by 76.6 mm and has a thickness of 9.69 mm. According to the manufacturer, it is a sturdy smartphone that is dust and waterproof with an IP68 certification. The control buttons of the Cat S52 are made of metal. Furthermore, the device is protected by an aluminum edge, a rubber anti-slip layer on the back and Gorilla Glass 6. According to the manufacturer’s tests, the device survives a fall on concrete from 1.5 meters. Also, the phone can withstand temperatures from -30°C to 65°C for a period of 24 hours.
The latest model from Cat Phones is powered by a Mediatek Helio P35 soc, an octacore with Cortex-A53 cores at up to 2.3GHz. The device has 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that is expandable via a micro-SD card. The phone comes with Android 9 and will be upgraded to Android 10 over time, according to Cat Phones.
The 5.65-inch IPS screen has a resolution of 1440×720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The manufacturer claims that the screen can also be operated with wet fingers or with gloves on. The phone also has a 12-megapixel camera with an f/1.8 lens and a pixel size of 1.4 µm, and an 8 megapixel selfie camera. The battery capacity is 3100 mAh and there is support for fast charging via USB-C. The device will be available from November 12 for 499 euros.
