Capcom has launched a new industry that will focus on the mobile market. The publisher wants to enter this market by releasing new games from well-known own titles such as Mega Man and Monster Hunter.

Capcom’s mobile business division will release four games before April 2017. In addition to the Mega Man and Monster Hunter games, a Sengoku Basara game is also planned. Sengoku Basara is a well-known hack-and-slash game series in Japan, some parts of which have also been brought to the West. Whether the fourth game will also use one of Capcom’s well-known names is unknown.

The new division should release the games worldwide. In Asia, Capcom also wants to make better use of its existing licenses and acquire more licenses to increase revenue from the region. The publisher expects mobile games to remain a growing market, and wants to be part of the industry’s expected revenue growth.

Earlier this month, Sony announced a similar move. With the new company ForwardWorks, Sony wants to release games for ‘smart devices’, such as smartphones. It would then be games based on existing PlayStation titles. Sony announced that the games would be released in Asia, but did not disclose worldwide releases. Last year, Nintendo also announced that it would focus on the mobile market. The company’s first application, MiiTomo, was released in the Benelux earlier this week.
