Capcom shows gameplay footage of a Resident Evil game with 4v1 co-op
Developer Capcom has announced a new co-op game in the Resident Evil universe. The game is called Project Resistance and will be released on PS4, Xbox One and Steam. It is not yet known when the game will be released, but there will be a closed beta in Japan next month.
Project Resistance will be a co-op game that pits four survivors against one mastermind, who resembles Resident Evil character Mr. X. The four survivors must escape from a building, while the bad guy must prevent this. The four survivors each have their own skill. For example, Tyrone is a tank that is less likely to be damaged, while Valerie can heal other survivors. Samuel has strong melee attacks and January can hack and disable security cameras.
The Mastermind, in turn, can use those security cameras to track down the four remaining players. These cameras also contain firearms. The mastermind can also place zombies, which he can then control himself. Furthermore, the villain can turn off the lights, set traps and lock doors. mr. X can also roam around the building himself.
In terms of gameplay, Project Resistance seems to be based on games like Friday the 13th and Dead by Daylight. The latter is especially popular. Capcom already hinted on Monday about the arrival of a co-op game set in the Resident Evil universe. A website for the game was also launched in August. The unveiling has been met with much criticism. Players accuse Capcom of capitalizing on current trends in the game industry with Project Resistance.
