Capcom Responds to Criticism of In-Game Advertising in Street Fighter V
Capcom has responded to players’ criticisms of the in-game advertising in Street Fighter 5. SFV’s executive producer Yoshi Ono said the developer is “collecting the feedback.”
Ono tweeted that Capcom is grateful to the SF5 community for feedback on the sponsored content. “We will continue to collect feedback from every player and we will consider how we can improve the new functionality,” said Ono.
Since December 11, players will be able to see in-game commercials in Street Fighter V, including Capcom’s eSports tournaments and SF5 DLC. While the ad is optional, some elements bothered players. Players complained about the placement of the Pro Tour logo on the default skins and its appearance. Also, many players don’t appreciate missing out on extra Fight Money, the in-game currency, when the ad is turned off. The money is difficult to obtain within the game.
