Can’t import Hitman 2 levels from Steam to Hitman 3 on Epic Store
Players who want to play Hitman 2 levels in Hitman 3 later, and who already have Hitman 2 on Steam, will still have to pay again for that content because Hitman 3 is temporarily exclusive to the Epic Games Store and imports from Steam despite previous promises still can’t.
Developer IOI decided at Hitman 3 to make all levels from the previous two games playable in this new game. Those who already have the previous two games will get the old levels for free in the new game. In August of last year, developer IO Interactive stated that if players have Hitman 2 on Steam, they could get the Hitman 2 levels in Hitman 3 even though that game is not on Steam, but on the Epic Games Store. It has now come back to that. This detail is extra important because Hitman 2 is again exclusively on Steam.
So if you want the Hitman 2 content in Hitman 3 and already have H2 on Steam, you have two options: wait until the Epic exclusivity period of one year has expired and buy the game on Steam, or the Hitman 2 content in the form of dlc on the Epic Store and thus pay for that content again. To compensate, IOI offers this access pass for the first 14 days after the release of H3 and regularly thereafter with an 80 percent discount, it now writes in a pre-launch guide. The price of the DLC has not yet been announced. In the pre-launch guide, it also states that IOI ‘has made every effort to make this process smooth and player-friendly’.
The levels are not only ported to Hitman 3, but they also get graphical improvements. In particular, there should be a big difference in lighting and reflections. Hitman 3 will be released on January 20 on the Epic Store, PlayStation 4, 5 and PSVR, Xbox One and Series S/X, Nintendo Switch and Google Stadia.
