Canonical releases beta version of Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster
Canonical has released a beta of Ubuntu 23.04 Lunar Lobster. Unlike the existing daily builds of this OS, this one is also aimed at non-developer users, but it remains a beta. This build can also be updated to the release version.
Ubuntu 23.04 will be the first major new release since Ubuntu 22.10; there is such a release every six months. Upgrading from 22.10 stable to the 23.04 beta is also possible. It contains a new installer, which is written based on Flutter and has a new visual design. Functionally, it is no different from its predecessor. The kernel will be updated to version 6.2.
Furthermore, a notification counter is available on top of application icons in the dock. Gnome 44 is also included with this OS; it offers faster access to bluetooth settings, but also expands the other quick settings with extra information about existing settings. Furthermore, the settings for touchpads have been expanded, WiFi networks can be shared via QR code and new accessibility options have been added.
Those who install or update to this beta from a stable 22.10 installation will automatically receive an update to the stable version of the OS at the time of the actual release. Canonical also releases the OS in three new ones flavors:Ubuntu Unity. Ubuntu Cinnamon and Edubuntu. For now, the beta only appears to be downloadable in its default form.
