Canon to hold event for likely EOS R5 and R6 on July 9

Canon has announced that it will be holding an event called Reimagine on July 9. The EOS R5 and the EOS R6 are likely to be announced during the event. There have been rumors about the arrival of these cameras for quite some time.

Canon will broadcast the Reimagine event live on July 9 at 2:00 PM. There are no details on what Canon will be announcing yet on the event website. The manufacturer does speak of “its largest product event to date”. Earlier rumors already talked about the arrival of the EOS R5 and EOS R6, supplemented by the announcement of six new RF lenses.

Canon has already announced that the EOS R5 is a mirrorless camera with a newly designed CMOS sensor with an image stabilization mechanism, which can shoot stills at 20 frames per second and record video in 8k resolution. According to Canon Rumors, the R6 will be a cheaper variant with a somewhat lower build quality and EVF with a lower resolution than the R5.

The properties of the six RF lenses are rumored to be 50mm f/1.8 IS STM, 70-200mm f/4L IS USM, 85mm f/2 Macro IS STM, 100-500mm f/4-7.1L IS USM, 600mm f /11 DO IS STM and 800mm f/11 DO IS STM. According to Canon Rumors, Canon will ship the R6 from August and the R5 from September.
