Canon releases compact Ivy Rec outdoor camera
Canon is launching a compact outdoor camera on the market. The Ivy Rec has a resolution of 13 megapixels and can record full-HD videos at 60 frames per second. The camera will be released in November and has a suggested retail price of 129 euros.
The Canon Ivy Rec is primarily intended for outdoor use by ‘casual’ photographers. According to Canon, the camera is shockproof up to a fall height of two meters and resistant to water up to two meters deep for half an hour. The Ivy Rec does not have a built-in viewfinder, but instead includes a square hole that allows users to compose their composition. Through this hole, the camera can also be attached to a bag, belt or cat collar by means of a built-in clip. Canon seems to position the camera as a compact camera.
The camera weighs 90 grams and has a 1/3″ cmos sensor with a resolution of 13 megapixels. This allows users, in addition to taking photos, also recording videos in full HD at up to 60 frames per second. The camera can be used for up to ten minutes. record videos continuously. The recorded images are stored on a micro SD card. The camera contains a 660 mAh battery that can be charged via a micro USB connection. On the back of the device is a rotary wheel to adjust the mode.
The Ivy Rec also supports Canon’s Mini Cam app, which allows users to see the image from the camera sensor on their phone screen in real time. This app works over a WiFi connection. The camera also supports bluetooth 4.1, which allows photo and video files to be sent directly from the camera to a smartphone.
Canon introduced the camera back in July. The manufacturer then started a crowdfunding campaign for the camera, which was amply achieved. The Ivy Rec will be released in November for 129 euros.
