Canon Introduces EOS-1D X Mark II
Canon has announced its EOS-1D X Mark II, a new high-end DSLR for professional use. The camera has a 20.2-megapixel sensor with Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology and an AF system with 61 focus points.
Canon’s EOS-1D X Mark II can shoot photos at 14fps with full-af/ae tracking and in RAW format. In Live View mode, the maximum continuous shooting rate is 16fps. The dslr has a 20.2-megapixel full-frame sensor, as the rumors already indicated. The sensor features Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, which can be used in combination with all EF lenses. The camera offers an iso range of 100 to 51,200 and that range can be expanded to 50 – 409,600 iso.
The manufacturer has provided the device with Al Servo AF III+, which, in combination with an AF algorithm, improves the sensitivity to follow unexpectedly moving objects. In addition, the Mirror Drive system is present, which consists of two suspended electric motors, one for the mirror and one for the shutter, which operate independently of each other.
One of the features that should set the EOS-1D X Mark II apart is the recording capability of 4k video at 60fps. The camera can also shoot full-HD images at 120fps. Images can be written to CFast 2.0 memory cards, which support write speeds of up to 440MB/s.
Furthermore, a 61-point af-system is present with f/8 af support for all those points and with 41 cross-type af-points. The exposure is measured via the 360k RGB+IR sensor, which uses 1404×990 RGB pixels and IR pixels in the detection. The image processor is Canon’s Dual Digic 6+ and the EOS has support for GPS, Ethernet, USB 3.0 and via the wft-e8 adapter, a $600 accessory, also for WiFi-ac.
The suggested retail price of the EOS-1D X Mark II is 6399.99 euros and the device will be available from the end of May.
