Canon gives G7 X III camera option to stream videos directly to YouTube
Canon has announced the G7 X III, a compact camera that gives users the ability to directly stream videos to YouTube. Furthermore, Canon comes with the G5 X II, a compact camera that gets a slightly modified lens and an electronic pop-up viewfinder.
Just like its predecessor, the Canon Powershot G7 X III has a fairly compact size and a 3″ touchscreen that can be folded up completely, but now also includes the option to stream videos directly to YouTube via WiFi. The device still has a 1 “sensor with a virtually unchanged resolution of 20.1 megapixels, but this time it is a stacked bsi-cmos sensor.
You can record videos in 4k resolution at thirty frames per second, without the sensor image being cut out. When using 1080p resolution, images can be captured at up to 120fps. The lens of the G7 X III is unchanged, with a zoom range of 24-100mm in full-frame equivalent, including optical image stabilization and a variable aperture of f/1.8-2.8. There is a USB-C connection to charge the camera and for video enthusiasts there is the option to connect an external microphone.
In addition, Canon is introducing the G5 X II, a compact camera that is mainly aimed at photographers. In terms of design, the predecessor resembled a compact SLR camera. That design has changed quite a bit with the G5 X II, which is very similar to the G7 X III. In addition to the 1″ stacked BSI-CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.1 megapixels, the addition of a pop-up viewfinder with OLED screen is an important innovation. This viewfinder is located at the top of the camera on the left, just like with the Sony RX100 III. and above, the lens has also been revamped, with the zoom range now ranging from 24 to 120mm in full-frame equivalent and the aperture being f/1.8-2.8.
A number of specifications are the same for the G7 X III and the G5 X II. Both devices are equipped with the Digic 8 processor, with which a shooting speed of 8.3 fps in RAW and jpeg with autofocus is possible. If the focus is locked, that can be increased to 20fps. This is all with the mechanical shutter, but when the electronic shutter is engaged a 30fps mode is also available, where the photos can be saved in RAW as well. In addition, both cameras have WiFi, Bluetooth, pop-up flashes and a USB-C connection for charging the battery. Both cameras are also equipped with a touchscreen that can be flipped up 180 degrees.
The Canon PowerShot G7 X III and PowerShot G5 X II can be pre-ordered from Tuesday and will be available from August. The G7 X III has a suggested retail price of 800 euros and the G5 X II should cost 950 euros.
