Canon EOS RP mirrorless camera details and photos appear online
The Japanese camera blog Nokishita has put specifications and photos of the as yet unannounced Canon EOS RP online. It appears to be a cheaper mirrorless full-frame model, which is positioned below the EOS R.
The photos show that the bulge in front of the electronic viewfinder, for example, is on the small side compared to the EOS R. It is likely that the electronic viewfinder uses a smaller screen with perhaps a lower magnification and a lower resolution. According to Nokishita, the EVF does have an OLED panel and the screen on top of the housing has disappeared.
The EOS RP is said to use dual pixel autofocus and has a 26.2 megapixel sensor with a sensitivity of 100 to 40,000 iso, with expansions to equivalents of 50, 51,200 and 102,400 iso. The shooting speed would be five frames per second. No information has been released about the video capabilities. The camera has a touch-sensitive 3″ LCD that can be folded forward completely from the side, weighs 485 grams including battery and has dimensions of 132.5x85x70mm. The photos show the device with an RF 24-105 f/4L IS USM -objectively.
Canon’s EOS RP camera will be placed under the EOS R released last year, as evidenced by, among other things, the lower resolution of the sensor and the slower shooting speed. The EOS R came on the market last year for 2540 euros and MirrorlessRumors assumes a sales price of the EOS RP of 1599 dollars. The new camera would be officially announced on or around February 14.
Based on another piece of information, Nokishita reports that Canon will also soon be announcing five new RF lenses for its mirrorless Canon cameras. These are the Canon RF 15-35mm f/2.8, RF 24-70mm f/2.8, RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3, RF 70-200mm f/2.8L and the RF 85mm f/1.2. Except for the 85mm prime, all lenses have built-in stabilization.
