Canon announces SX740 compact camera with 4k movie function
Canon has announced the PowerShot SX740 HS. This compact camera is the successor to the PowerShot SX730 HS. The most important innovation of this model is the recording of video images in 4k.
To enable shooting of images in 4k resolution at up to 30fps, the SX740 HS has been equipped with Canon’s Digic 8 image processor. The SX730 HS could only record videos in 1080p. Thanks to the new chip, photos can be shot at 7.4 fps, while the predecessor only reached a speed of 5.9 fps.
The new SX740 HS features the same 24-960mm lens with 40x optical zoom and an aperture of f/3.3-6.9. The same 20.3 megapixel sensor in 1/2.3″ format has also been used for the new camera. The LCD on the back can be flipped up 180 degrees for taking selfies. Canon’s new compact camera will be released on August 10 for a price from EUR 409. There will be a black and a silver version.
