Canon has announced a successor to the popular Speedlite 430EX II flash. The Speedlite 430EX III-RT along with other Speedlites can be controlled from up to 100 feet away thanks to support for Canon’s Radio Transmitter system.

The dimensions of the Speedlite 430EX III-RT are 71x114x99mm, making the flash slightly smaller than its predecessor. In addition, as with the high-end 600EX-RT, there is also support for remote control via radio transmission. The flash can also be controlled via infrared, but radio offers a longer distance and does not suffer from transmission obstacles.

According to Canon, the support for its Radio Transmitter system also offers the possibility to control a total of up to fifteen supported flash units from a distance of up to 30 meters. In addition, control via the ST-E3-RT or Speedlite 600EX-RT is possible.

The zoom range is 24mm to 105mm, or up to 14mm with the built-in adapter, and the maximum guide number of 43 at ISO 100 is also identical to that of its predecessor, the 430EX II. Furthermore, Canon has enlarged the LCD and there is a program wheel with shortcuts. Canon will start delivery in September and will then charge 345 euros for the Speedlite 430EX III-RT.

By then, Canon will also be introducing accessories such as the Color Filter SCF-E2 for a suggested retail price of 20 euros, the Bounce Adapter SBA-E2 for also 20 euros and the Remote Controller Adapter RA-E3 for 49 euros.
