Camgirl sites user data database was accessed unprotected
The Spanish company VTS Media has left a database with data of users of cam sites like amateur.tv open for weeks. The database contained, among other things, IP addresses and chat messages from users.
The database that could be accessed unprotected via the Internet included data from the sites amateur.tv, webcampornoxxx.net and placercams.com, all three of which are managed by VTS Media. This made it possible to view logs with usernames, IP addresses, personal messages and in some cases e-mail addresses.
Through logs of failed login attempts, passwords in plain text could be retrieved and it was also clear who watched which videos, TechCrunch writes. Not only did data from users of the sites become public, but also that of the women who worked as camgirls for the sites.
It would be data from millions of users. The database was found by security company Condition:Black. After reporting this to VTS Media, the security problem has been resolved. It is not known whether the data was funneled away and ended up on the internet.
