The camera that the Chinese manufacturer Yongnuo is working on will have a sixteen-megapixel sensor of the 4/3 “format, can handle Canon EF lenses and runs on Android 7.1. The device runs on an octacore processor from Qualcomm.

Yongnuo gives details of the camera, which will be referred to as the YN450, on his Facebook page. The device has a 5 “touchscreen with a 1080p resolution. Next to that screen is a ‘front camera’ with an eight-megapixel resolution. Which Qualcomm-soc Yongnuo will use is not yet known. The chip is combined with 3GB ram and 32GB flash storage. The device also has built-in GPS, a 3.5mm jack and a 4000mAh battery. The image sensor comes from Panasonic.

The camera can take photos in raw format and shoot videos in 4k resolution with up to 30fps. Yongnuo says the device is compatible with Canon EF lenses; the manufacturer also makes lenses with that mount. The choice of the EF mount, which is designed for cameras with a mirror, is striking. The YN450 is a mirrorless camera, where lenses can be placed closer to the sensor. When Yongnuo puts a Canon EF mount on the camera, it will protrude a few centimeters from the front of the camera.

Last week, Yongnuo revealed that it is working on its own camera. The manufacturer has been known for a number of years for its cheaper alternatives to the 50 mm f/1.8 lenses from Canon and Nikon. After that, the Chinese lens manufacturer came out with more lenses, which in appearance are very similar to the official variants of the Japanese camera manufacturers.
