Two former Infinity Ward employees, who both worked for years on the Call of Duty franchise, have left the company to start a new studio. Under the name Reload Studios they are working on a new first person shooter.

Reload Studios was founded by James Chung and Taehoon Oh, IGN reports. Both worked for Infinity Ward for years. Oh even worked there for ten years, first as a senior artist and the last four years as a lead artist. In a press release, they say the decision to set up a studio stems from a desire to do more with virtual reality devices. For example, Chung does not see VR glasses as ordinary peripherals, but as an entirely new platform.

A total of twelve employees now work at Reload Studios. In addition to Oh and Chung, more Call of Duty veterans work at the studio. For example, Pete Blumel was a producer on several titles in the franchise and Kougant Chen worked as a programmer on Ghosts and Modern Warfare 3. In addition, Nik Ranieri joined the studio, Ranieri worked at Disney as an animator since 1987.

The developers are now working on the studio’s first game, a first person shooter due to be released in 2015 on the latest generation of consoles and mobile platforms. VR glasses will play a major role in the game, but nothing else is known about the project.
