Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will soon have a hardcore mode. This mode is part of many previous Call of Duty titles. This game mode will probably be introduced when the second season is released in three weeks.

Infinity Ward reports on Twitter that the hardcore mode will be released soon. The developer does not say when exactly this mode will make its appearance, but it will be during the upcoming second season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. That season was supposed to be released on February 1, but was recently moved to February 15. New playing fields and weapons will then become available. In addition, Warzone 2, the battle royale part of the shooter, will have a new, smaller playing field.

The hardcore mode removes, among other things, the usual head-up display that, for example, shows information on the screen for shooters about the number of bullets still in the magazine. Furthermore, shooting teammates will actually cause damage and opponents will likely take far fewer bullets to outwit them; the time-to-kill is significantly reduced.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II received a mode last year that is very similar to the hardcore modes of yesteryear, called the Tier 1 playlist. With this playlist, players have less health and a limited head-up display, and friendly fire is active. At the time, this change was met with criticism as it was considered a pointless name change for hardcore mode.
