Activision is giving its upcoming smartphone game Call of Duty: Mobile a battle royale mode. Up to 100 players can compete against each other at the same time. There is a choice of individual matches and matches with teams of two or four people.

Initially, there are six classes for players to choose from, each with its own ability and skill. The game rules are similar to Blackout and other battle royale games: players are dropped into the playing field from the air and must search for weapons and compete against each other until only one player remains.

Activision emphasizes that the battle royale mode in Call of Duty: Mobile is separate from the rest of the game and will have its own playing field that contains elements from several other games in the Call of Duty series. The developer is also testing with modes for playing in teams of two or four people. Players also get a choice of pots from a first-person or third-person perspective.

Vehicles are also available. On land, players can move around with a quad and SUV, and players can take to the air with a small helicopter. A speedboat is available for the water.

Call of Duty: Mobile is still in development, so things may still change, Activision says. The game is currently being tested in India and interested parties in other parts of the world can register via the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store. It is not yet known when the game will be available to everyone.

The smartphone game is being developed in collaboration with Tencent. That party will release the game on the Chinese market. The game will also be released worldwide and will be free to download. Developers can earn a lot of money from in-game purchases in mobile battle royale games. For example, last week it was revealed that players have spent more than two billion dollars in such games in the past two years.
