Burnout developer working on new racing game
Alex Ward, former Creative Director of Criterion Games, has announced that the next game from his studio Three Fields Entertainment will be a racing game. At Criterion, Ward previously worked on the Burnout titles.
According to Videogamer, the game will be the ‘spiritual successor’ to Burnout 3. Ward has previously indicated that the game will be ‘very fast’. He also referred to the project under the code name ‘shiny red something’, which comes close to Burnout’s code name, ‘shiny red car’. Burnout 3’s original voice-over, Ted Stryker, would also be making a comeback. There is no information about a release date yet.
For this, Three Fields released the game Dangerous Golf, in which players have to deal as much damage as possible during a round of golf. He co-founded the Three Fields studio in 2014 with Fiona Sperry, who previously worked at Criterion. The other employees of the new studio are also former Criterion employees. After its acquisition by EA in 2005, this studio was responsible for the Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted titles of the Need for Speed series.
