Bungie makes Destiny 2 parts that were locked by DLC available again
Destiny 2 players who have not purchased the Curse of Osiris DLC will regain access to some parts of the game that were initially locked with the arrival of the DLC. Bungie says it made wrong decisions.
With an update, Bungie will give all players of Destiny 2 access to the Prestige Levithan Raid again, by reducing the required power level to 300. In addition, all players can participate in Trials of the Nine again. Only when playing a map from the new dlc is ownership required. In-game events such as Iron banner, Faction Rally and The Dawning will be available to everyone again.
The Prestige Nightfall mode maintains the required power level of 330 and is therefore only playable for owners of the DLC. The regular Nightfall mode is accessible to everyone, with the exception that the DLC is required when playing a Curse or Osiris map. Bungie says it is considering a third difficulty setting for Prestige Activities to offer a challenge to players who have all the DLC while also offering a version that is available to all players, even if they don’t purchase expansions.
Bungie says the team overlooked the fact that the original plans eliminated Trophies and Achievements in Destiny 2 for players without DLC. The developer says he understands players’ frustrations about this and states that it was a mistake that should not have been made.
Locking the parts was the wrong decision, Bungie admits. Although the developer has done that before in Destiny, it was not the right decision this time because Trials of The Nine is a part that is already in the game itself, the makers say.
