Bungie delays Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape until June 2024
Bungie announces that Destiny 2 expansion The Final Shape will be postponed until June 4, 2024. According to the developer, the team ‘needs more time’. Initially, the expansion was set to be released on February 27 next year.
The developer announces the postponement in a blog post. According to the studio, which was acquired by Sony in 2022, The Final Shape is the “culmination of the first ten years of Destiny stories.” Since Bungie’s alleged layoffs, rumors have been circulating that the studio was planning to postpone the Destiny 2 expansion. Reportedly, 8 percent of Bungie employees have been fired due to the poorly received Lightfall expansion.
Meanwhile, Season of the Wish will launch on November 28, 2023. The bulk of the season’s content will now extend into June, instead of February as originally planned. However, Bungie will release additional content to fill the gap between February and June. These include new weekly quests called Wishes and the annual Moments of Triump event with associated rewards.
