Brave Browser has over 50 million monthly active users
The Brave browser had 50.2 million monthly active users at the end of December. At the end of 2020, the privacy-friendly browser had approximately 24 million monthly active users. The company says it is doubling this monthly user result for the fourth year in a row.
At the end of December, Brave also registered more than 15.5 million daily active users, in line with the increase in the browser’s reported monthly active users. But not only the browser did well according to the company. Brave reports in a blog post that the sales of the advertising platform quadrupled in 2020. According to research by Digital Information World, Brave’s mobile browser would have been the fastest growing browser of 2021 with about 10 million downloads in a year.
Brave Search, the search engine that was introduced in open beta at the beginning of June last year, processes 190 million queries per month, according to Brave, after six months. The company estimates that the search engine would currently process approximately 2.3 billion queries on an annual basis. Brave is a web browser based on Chromium. At the helm of the company behind Brave is Brendan Eich, the creator of JavaScript and one of the founders of Mozilla. Brave focuses on improving online security and provides an alternative system for financially supporting content providers.
